A Bit Of History

The start of Pizza Hut can be traced back to 1958 when it was started off by both Dan and Frank Carney who were brothers. They borrowed six hundred dollars from their mother and opened the foremost Pizza Hut restaurant in Wichita, Kansas. The restaurant was small and could only accommodate about twenty five customers. The restaurant’s building looked like a hut; so the Carney brothers named the restaurant Pizza Hut. Customer service and quality pizza was the driving endeavor of the business and within no time, the business became successful.

Topeka, Kansas was first location where the first franchise of Pizza Hut opened. Pizza Hut’s reputation was growing in Kansas whereas Shakey’s Pizza had a strong reputation in West coast. The two brothers grasped that Shakey’s Pizza was growing at a first rate and soon it will spread out into Kansas so the Carney brothers sought to improve Pizza Hut’s service delivery as well as its image so as to stifle competition from Shakey’s Pizza. In 1964, Pizza Hut developed a standard layout that made Pizza Hut recognizable from its look by customers. In the same year, the two brothers decided to bring a new look to the way the restaurant looked. Pizza hut developed a universal theme from which its buildings were constructed.

In 1970, Pizza Hut went public on the NYSE. In 1973, Pizza Hut opened restaurants in Canada, Japan and England. In 1977, Pizza Hut merged with PepsiCo.
The introduction of pan pizza soared high the business fortunes of Pizza Hut resulting in the opening of many outlets across England and all over the world. A new invention referred to as ‘The Edge’ came into being in the new millennium. The Edge was a slim Pizza that had toppings just about its edge.

There business had approximately 500 outlets all over UK. In addition, Pizza Hut was a source of employment for over 20,000 employees. At present, customers can locate Pizza Hut across the U.S as well as in seventeen different countries all over the globe.
